The oil is extracted through steam distillation of whole plant just before flowering. Mentha Piperita oil is generally known as peppermint oil. The oil is pale yellow in color and has sharp, fresh and menthol like odour. Peppermint oil comes from Latin word ‘mente’ meaning ‘thought’. The oil finds its space in the making of various toothpaste and chewing gums for oral hygiene.
