Star Anise Essential Oil Botanical name of the oil is Illicium verum. The oil is also known as Black Licorice. The oil is obtained from steam distillation of the small tree which is found in Vietnam and China. Since ancient period the oil is used in the food stuffs and beverages as a spice and flavoring agent. Also the oil finds many uses flavoring liquors and fruit bears. In many countries the oil is used as mouth freshener.
